Down me Gently.

Down me Gently
(For Elizabeth Wanjiku Gatungo)

Tired
I am of this cactus land
Yes, I enjoyed it when it lasted
Away from the eyes of death comedians release me
A Beautiful sunrise I had and now I’ve crossed the bridge
On my eternal bed, sweet family and true friends
Down me gently like a sleeping baby.

Friend?
Are you not late?
True friends I knew but a few
Devastated they mourn in their hearts
Remember no publicity can my sweet repose disturb
On my eternal bed, sweet family and true friends
Down me gently like a sleeping baby.

Peace
In solitude l embrace
Harmony of a collected mind
Continuity in discontinuities l envisage
A quiet transition into the world under l achieve
On my eternal bed, sweet family and true friends
Down me gently like a sleeping baby.

Remember
Me in the storms of life
My struggles, resilience, and tenacity
My love, compassion, care, and kindness
In a song-filled ceremony, farewell me celebratory
On my eternal bed, sweet family and true friends
Down me gently like a sleeping baby.
